The Story of Trudy Album in commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day
Tuesday, January 28th, 2025.
Trudy Album, born in 1929 in what is now Slovakia, is a concentration camp survivor. In 1944, she and her mother and sisters were forcibly deported to Auschwitz, where she remained the sole survivor of her family. In 1946, at the age of 17, she was able to emigrate to America to join living relatives who had successfully fled abroad. You can read more about Trudy's amazing life and work on her website, https://www.trudyalbum.com.
Trudy Album will join us 80 years after the liberation of Auschwitz (January 27, 1945) on Zoom for a conversation with students. The event will be hybrid (in person and on Zoom).
This event is made possible through cooperation with Mia Cohen and other students in the course, "Perceptions of the Holocaust on Social Media," taught by Gunther Jikeli, the Associate Director of the Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism.
