Antisemitism-light: A Worrying Stance and its Jewish Supporters
October 17, 2021, Noon, Eastern Time (US and Canada)
A new pattern of antisemitism has emerged in recent years that is mostly directed against the Jewish state. Many of its bearers are Western left-oriented academics. It employs a softer formulation of Jew-hatred – ‘antisemitism-light’ - that obfuscates its true aims. A worrying fact is the large number of Jewish intellectuals, among them also Israelis, that support that position. Their views and activities reflect a deepening internal confrontation in present-day Jewry that is very much related to Israel and its social and cultural characteristics.
