Deidre Berger

  • Chair of the Executive Board of the Jewish Digital Cultural Recovery Project Foundation;
  • Associate Partner of Tikvah Institut gUG;
  • Former Director of AJC Berlin Ramer Institute for German-Jewish Relations.

In January 2021, the Jewish Digital Recovery Project Foundation appointed Deidre Berger Chair of the Executive Board.  Prior to this appointment, she worked for 20 years for American Jewish Committee as Senior European Affairs Advisor for AJC Europe and Director of the AJC Berlin Lawrence and Lee Ramer Institute for German-Jewish Relations. 

Ms. Berger is Co-Founder and Associate Partner of the Tikvah Institut gUG, Chair of the Advisory Board of the German government-sponsored Alliance for Democracy and Tolerance, Co-Chair of the Management Board of IsraAID Germany, Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of Honestly Concerned/I Like Israel, and Vice-Chair of the Advisory Board of the Leo Trepp Foundation.  Additional advisory boards on which she serves include Action Reconciliation Service for Peace; House of the Wannsee Conference; the Ernst Ludwig Ehrlich Study Foundation (ELES); and the International Youth Meeting Center in Oswiecim, Poland. In 2008, the German President’s Office awarded her the German Federal Cross of Merit for her service in German-Jewish relations.
Prior to joining the AJC in 1999, Ms. Berger worked for 15 years as a foreign correspondent, reporting on German and European affairs for National Public Radio, Deutsche Welle international broadcast network; and other print and broadcast media.
Ms. Berger has lectured and written extensively on transatlantic and Mideast affairs, anti-Semitism and extremism, German-Jewish relations, and dialogue amongst ethnic and religious groups.
