P: Grade of C or higher in NELC-B 502 or equivalent proficiency; meets with JSTU-B 200

This course meets three times a week and is offered as the third semester course in the Biblical Hebrew language track. It addresses the intermediate language acquisition level of Biblical Hebrew. In addition to developing the skills to engage in close readings of Biblical Hebrew texts, this course introduces students to the use of historical linguistics in the study of Hebrew. Students will develop the skills to analyze the grammar and meaning of Biblical Hebrew narrative, law, prophecy, and poetic texts.

This course is open to undergraduate students as well as to graduate students. Graduate students should enroll in this course through the NELC Department. Undergraduate students should enroll in this course through the Jewish Studies Program. This course may be used to satisfy the foreign language or the language proficiency requirements. This course may be used to satisfy the GenEd requirements.
